What's My Story: Object Conservator
Jennifer French has been the Object Conservator at the North Carolina Museum of History since 2010. Over her 13-year career, she has worked on two continents and with objects that span vast time scales. Before unfurling her tool kit in Raleigh, she worked to stabilize objects from the Bronze Age in Wiltshire England, to repairing feathers and reattaching beads on Native American objects for the Smithsonian, to securing the ephemeral messages and photos taped to the Last Column from the rubble of 9/11.

Montlieu Academy was considered an under-performing school until last year, with low test scores & high absenteeism. Thanks to High Point University & community foundations, there is a new emphasis on technology at Montlieu. Test scores have improved dramatically & the students say they really like to come to school.

In this second part of a 4 part series, Producer Donna Campbell shows us on the program's expansion to Guilford County Schools through a $30 million grant that is giving all middle school students in the district their own electronic tablets for learning.
Power Up Time At Montlieu - Pt. 1
Montlieu Academy, a magnet school for technology, is not far from High Point University in Guilford County. Until August of 2011, it was considered an under-performing school. Test scores were below average. Discipline problems and poor attendance were common. Education leaders developed a bold new vision for Montlieu and purchased iPads for every student and teacher in the school.
Western Carolina University SimLab
Frank Graff heads to Western Carolina University to introduce us to "Sim-Man," a rather human-like mannequin who teaches students how to respond to real life medical situations. "Sim-Man" is part of the university's new $46 million state of the art teaching labs located in the Health and Human Science Building.

Rural Health Part 3: Wilkes County
The communities of Hays, Boomer, and Champion in Wilkes County NC are rallying to keep their healthcare centers sustainable as cuts in healthcare reimbursements take a toll on their already tight budgets. According to the Wilkes County 2012 “State of the County’s Health Report,” the number of uninsured patients receiving services increased by nearly 30-percent. Heather Burgiss reports.
